HD Ferries makes its last crossing
HD Ferries ran catamarans from St Peter Port in Guernsey and St Helier in Jersey to St Malo and Cherbourg in France. It was a direct competitor to Condor Ferries, which simultaneously had a contract to provide services from the Channel Islands to the British mainland.
For a very brief period it ran a direct service between Guernsey and St Malo, but this wasn’t popular enough to be sustainable, and the service continued to call at Jersey on the way.
The service was launched on 6 August 2007, but it only lasted a little over a year. Its last crossing ran on 7 September 2008.
